Construction industry is one of the important service sectors in Small and Medium Enterprises (SME). Construction\nindustries are not ââ?¬Å?footlooseââ?¬Â hence all progress that is made in improving the sustainability and performance of\nthe construction industry benefit the region and countries they operate in. The aim of this study is to investigate the\nentrepreneurial skills of construction professionals in the built environment of the development of the service sector\nin Nigeria. This was achieved by establishing innovativeness of construction professionals, determining willingness\ntake risk by construction professionals and the roles of human resource management of construction professionals\nactually contribute to the development of the service sector in Nigeria. In this study construction professionals were\nrestricted to only those in the built environment, consist of Architects, Builders, Estate valuers, Land Surveyors, Quantity\nSurveyors and Town Planners. The questionnaire was designed based on open-ended format of the item used. A total\nof 304 questionnaires were sent out to registered professionals in the built environment in Abuja and Lagos towns were\nconstruction of the built environment is visible. 204 questionnaires representing 67% of the sample were returned and\ndeemed useable. The data were analyzed using percentage, graph and linear regression for descriptive and inferential\nanalyses, respectively. Study established that majority (83.8%) of the respondents agreed that entrepreneurial skills of\nconstruction professionals was statistically significant in explaining the development of the service sector in Nigeria. The\nstudy concluded that entrepreneurial skills of construction professionals contribute to the development of the service\nsector in Nigeria. The study recommends capacity building as this is paramount to development of the service sector in\nNigeria through training, workshop etc....
A tourist resort needs to have superlative service quality standards and enticing service strategies that can lure the customer to the resort again and again. Operations in a tourist resort needs to be profitable but this intent must be matched by the correct strategies. Only then can the resort sustain in the long run. This case study highlights the need for resorts to deliver service quality of the highest standards coupled with the right pricing strategies that can ensure value for the customer. A tourism resort must leverage its competitive advantage through the right choice of strategies for service delivery. Today customers are not only adept but also quick to give their feedback about their service experience through social media networks and travel portals. This research aims to investigate the effect of attitudes towards healthcare service quality on\norganisational performance among Saudi Arabian hospitals. The sample size comprises of\n154 hospitals randomly chosen from 259 government hospitals in Saudi Arabia. For data\nanalysis, the Partial Least Squares (PLS) structural equation modeling was used. In addition,\nthis study found a positive and significant association between attitudes towards healthcare\nservice quality and organisational performance. This study aimed to test empirically the effect of financial and non financial compensation on\nprofessionalism and lecturer�s performance. The study population was all lecturers who are\ncertified, public and private lecturers at the private universities in Makassar (Indonesia).\nStratified proportional random sampling was used to obtain the total sample of 111 lecturers�.\nCovariance-based SEM (SEMPLS) with a WarpPLS 5.0 used in this study. The results of the\nstudy provide evidence that financial and non financial compensation has a positive and\nsignificant effect on the lecturer�s professionalism. Financial compensation has a positive and\nsignificant effect on the lecturer performance but non financial compensation did not. The level\nof professionalism has a positive and significant effect on the lecturer�s performance.\nProfessionalism can be evident as a mediating role in explained effect of financial and non\nfinancial compensation on lecturer�s performance....
The paper sought to establish the perspectives of the supervisors and the pre-final students�\nfeedback after the pre-final students had completed their academic internship to make\nacademic internship relevant. The research was carried out at a University in Botswana. The\nresearch utilized the mixed methods approach focusing on pre-final students from the\nGaborone campus in the faculty of computing. A sample of 96 students and 36 internship\ncompany supervisors were selected. The research findings showed that both the students and\ninternship supervisors felt that the academic internship is very useful but however they are\nsome key issues that should be addressed for the academic internship to be a success. The key\nissues should be addressed by the three stakeholders namely the student, the internship\nsupervisor and the training institution in order to make the academic internship a success....
What determines the choice of tourist destination? Based on the comprehensive tourist\nsurveys by VisitDenmark in 2004, 2008 and 2011, we find that both Danes and tourists from\ncountries close to Denmark attach great importance to safety, but it is also important for\nnationalities such as Americans and Japanese. Furthermore, tourists staying at hotels and\nyouth hostels ascribe less weight to safety than tourists using other accommodation forms.\nFinally, returning tourists ascribe more weight to safety than first-time tourists....
